Plant Manager Bill Eckstein

One suggestion solicited by the plant’s manager Bill Eckstein is that neighbors should call him and alert him of smell, time of day etc. I was told that he wants to hear from us and do what he can to keep the smell contained. And that he leaves the plant at 3:00 pm each day.

Have you ever stepped outside or visited a nieghboring housing area while you were burning!?!? I invite you to my home durring the next burn schedule(which should be tomorrow). Bring your family….Let them experience all that we do.

I find that the smell is most often around 8pm to 9pm and on weekends(used to be a great time to have friends over to enjoy sitting outside and visit). A call to you doesn’t do much good because your not there.
It would seem to me with some effort a pattern of when the smell occures could be found and then an approach developed to reduce it. Thanks for listening.

I have observed the exact same pattern as dickie3 commented above that typically between 8pm - 10 pm at night and on the weekends intermittently throghout the day.

I AM SICK OF SMELLING NASTY STINK EVERYTIME I WANT TO ENJOY A NICE BREEZE OUTSIDE. I WAS TOLD WHEN I BOUGHT OUT HERE, THAT MILLINOS OF DOLLARS HAD BEEN SPENT TO EMPROVE ON THE VENTS AND SMELL COMING FROM THE PLANT. “THEY LIED!”

  6. javirn Says:

Wow, woke up this morning to mow the lawn and nearly gagged when I walked out the door. Tried calling the number but I guess being that it’s Saturday, no one answered. Oh well, I used the “stink-o-meter” instead. I will try and visit more often to help keep track of this. Thank you.

  7. ryanscott Says:

Last night’s full moon was “clouded” by the stench. Hard for a family to enjoy their home when you are gagging.

It would be nice on these hot summer days to be able to open our windows and let the house cool off. Totaly agree with everyone on being able to have company over to eat outside. Today not a problem, nice breeze and no stinch. I did smell it this morning however! If they were smart they would burn between 2am and 6am!!!!

  9. jaco0556 Says:

What I have observed in the last 9 months is the smell is on most days between 8pm and 10 pm. On Saturdays it is worst.

Why can’t they do the same operations on between 12:00 midnight and say 4:00 AM.

The money they claims to have spend for air filter etc is not effective.

8-10 pm is the nice time to just sit out and enjoy the breeze.

I totally regret buying a half a million dollar home. I knew about it before buying, but never smelt this bad during the 11 visits we made at different times of the day.

  10. ejbarbs Says:

I totally agree with jaco0556. We spent over 500k for our home and on all our visits to the community never experienced the stench that is being spewed from this facility….AWEFUL. Is it hazardous to inhale this junk?

  11. jjhelfrick Says:

We too spent 500k to live in this smelly village and are starting to regret it! Not only is it smelly and unhealthy, but very embarrassing to have family and friends over.

I would like to know what last nights Oder was!?!?!?
It was like a very overpowering harsh cleansing Oder! The smell started about 11p.m. last night and lingered on until this morning.

It’s Halloween night- a great time to take kids around the neighborhood, answer the door to give out treats, and meet some more neighbors. Instead, we are being treated to an overpowering stench of death. I know, it is Halloween, but it’s only supposed to be IMAGINARY! Thanks for making this the most unpleasant holiday experience of my life. I’m glad to read that so many others came and visited their home before moving in, and NEVER smelled a thing- we were out at least 20 times at various times of day, week, etc. Not a scent. Then we get our keys… Amen- THEY LIED!

  13. dickie3 Says:

I agree that Halloween was a nasty night for the poor kids.

On the plus side, I have noticed that the smell has not been bad the last couple of months. Is the plant doing something different?

  14. LeoR Says:

The odor is in the air now, it’s Friday at 6pm. Still weaker than it’s been but it has not reached the primetime of 8pm yet. We were told by the builder that the odor would be “infrequent” and typically only during the really hot months. As others have noted it’s quite frequent, almost always at dinner time 6-10 Friday thru Sunday when noone is at the plant. Midnight to 4 or 5 would perfect for crowd control.

  15. jjhelfrick Says:

This is getting to be ridiculous!!!I can’t even enjoy a nice evening in my backyard….. No wonder I never see any children outside playing. I would like to know who is going to pay the future medical bills that we’ll all get for having some mysterious illness?!?! I too would also like to know why the smell has all of the sudden returned?

  16. tinahess Says:

About 4 years ago, while having dinner at the Sloughhouse Inn, I met several men who were supposedly working on the rendering plant odor abatement project. What happened? The odor/air is no less putrid than it was before this project.

  17. ueclark Says:

Throughout this summer we have smelled the rendering plant on many evenings between 8 - 10 pm, just when you want to be outside and enjoy cooling after the day’s heat. the first summer we were here, I did not notice the smell nearly as often (2005) now, it is most nights I decide to be outside and/or open the windows.

  18. chesnokov Says:
